Women's Self-defense and Personal Safety Class
Self-defense techniques that are simple, effective but most of all remembered
and personal awareness skills will be the focus of this class. The instructor
uses her twenty years of teaching experience to transfer her knowledge in such
a way that each participant will finish the class with confidence and an understanding
of what she can and just as importantly cannot do. The instructor, France Pruter
is a graduate from UMKC in Psychology, former KCMO police officer, Taekwondo
Master, and owner of Pruter's U.S. Martial Arts Center.
Olympic Sparring
Modern Olympic Sparring drills are taught in this specialty class. Mr. and
Mrs. Pruter use there extensive experience in the Taekwondo ring and years
of training to teach each student the art of Olympic Sparring. You will learn
how to move in all direction with speed, power and balance. You will also learn
the art of ring management so that you can win those close matches by using
your brain and not giving it away to your adversary.
Board Breaking
Board breaking teaches you to focus your energy and power on a target and
smash it to pieces. Board breaking is in intricate part of any traditional
Taekwondo program. It is also a fun aspect of tournament competition. Students
from Pruter's U.S. Martial Arts have brought home many medals and trophies
in board breaking competition. It is this area in national competitions that
our students have exceeded any school in the country.
Forms (Poomse)
Forms classes are specifically designed to teach the student to get into the “Do” of
the martial arts. “Do” in Taekwondo means “art”, the form is a specific pattern
of movements consisting of blocks, strikes, kicks, and artistic moves that
teaches the student balance, speed, power, and accuracy. It has been said that
the heart and soul of any martial art is in its forms. At Pruter's U.S. Martial
we take our forms seriously and it shows, just come and watch one of our advanced
students do a form. It will leave you breathless and inspired.
Hapkido
Hapkido is a Korean form of self-defense that not only uses strikes but also
throws, and joint manipulation to over power an opponent by using his weight
and energy against him. At Pruter's U.S. Martial Arts we teach Hapkido not
as an art itself but as an intricate part of our advance Taekwondo program.
Weapons
Our weapons program is a fledgling program that is continuing to develop.
At Pruter's U.S. Martial Arts we currently teach our advanced students several
weapons that they can use on a practical basis. We believe that the most important
part of the martial arts is consistency and perseverance therefore any addition
to our program is taken very seriously. Watch as our weapons program continues
to grow over the next several years.
Sun-do
Sun-do is an ancient Korean form of stretching and concentrated breathing.
We blend in relaxation training and meditative techniques that increase your
flexibility, improve your health and help clear and focus your mind. Additional
benefits include increased mobility, balance, and range of motion, posture
and body awareness. All this will lead to an enhanced ability to learn and
perform skilled movements and the confidence to participate in more activities.
